What Miss Earth likes In A Gown

Welcome to another edition of forémalogy – the study of the gowns. Let’s take a look at the gowns of Miss Earth winners. Below is the photo of Miss Earth 2007 Jessica Trisko, Miss Earth 2010 Nicole Faria, Miss Earth 2011 Olga Alava and Miss Earth 2012 Tereza Fajksova. In what way that their gowns are all similar? Pretty obvious isn’t it? Their gowns are all in white – the symbol of purity and cleanliness in the Western world.

Now, let’s have another set of winners in here. Check out the gowns of Miss Earth 2013 Alyz Henrich, Miss Earth 2006 Hil Hernandez, Miss Earth 2008 Karla Henry and Miss Earth 2009 Larissa Ramos. In what way they are similar? Perhaps you may notice that they have revealing necklines but that’s not the real answer. Can you see what I mean? All of these gowns have flowing skirts and all of these four winners twirled their skirts during the gown competition!

What can we learn from these? Well, gown for starters, is a crucial element in determining the Miss Earth winner because there is a dedicated segment for it. Thus, it should help the National Directors to understand that flowing gown skirts and of white color is the right gown for a Miss Earth contestant based on the trend above.

However, Miss Earth is a pageant that does not really delve deeply into the gown. It is more about the girl. Even if the contestant is wearing a white gown with flowing skirt, she must learn to be comfortable with it and of course she must rock on the stage before she can have a rightful claim at the crown.

MWNZ Organization’s Reply To Casey Radley’s Allegations

Few days ago we brought you a major story about an allegation y Casey Radley against Miss World New Zealand Organization.  READ HERE

No doubt, lots of pageant blogs have been up and about the matter and in a latest update, Missosology, one of the leading blogs says in a recent chat with the National Director of MWNZ (Miss World New Zealand) Rose Foulger; Rose did not give any specific details about the issue or any rebuttal against the allegations. Instead, her only reply is a Biblical passage found in the book of Proverbs.

Rose Foulger gave a succinct reply, “Our response is: Proverbs 12:19″ Upon checking the New International Version of the Bible, that particular passage reads, “Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.”

The finals of the Miss World New Zealand is happening tonight, April 26.

Sayade Hug is the new Miss Earth Schweiz

Sayade Hug who is 23 years old and hails from Bern won the Miss Earth Schweiz contest. She will represent Switzerland at the Miss Earth 2014 competition. Meanwhile Sabrina Mili is Miss Air while the Miss Water is Leandra Lorenz and the Miss Fire is Azra Becic.

Miss Honduras 2014 Is Maria Jose Alvarado

Maria Jose Alvarado, from Copan, is the new Señorita Honduras, or Miss Honduras World. The event took place in San Pedro Sula and 20 finalists competed for the title.


She will now get ready to compete in Miss World 2014, in November.

Arielle Garciano Is The Newly-Crowned Miss World New Zealand 2014

Filipino beauty Arielle Garciano is the newly-crowned Miss World New Zealand 2014 after wowing judges with her stunning looks and outstanding efforts to raise money for a little girl from the Philippines who needed lifesaving facial surgery.

The Christchurch contestant towered over a field of 15 to land the coveted title of most beautiful women in the land at the final day of competition at Auckland’s Rendezvous Grand Hotel tonight.

Alice Ford Crowned Miss Wales 2014

The city of Port Talbot served as host to Miss Wales 2014, and the winner was the very tall Alice Ford, who had been a runner-up in previous editions of the pageant. Sadie Mltby placed 2nd and Nadia Sulliman was 3rd.

Ford will represent Wales in Miss World 2014, in November.

A TIP AT PICKING THAT 'WINNING GOWN'...

As the quest to crowning the next Miss Tourism Nigeria draws close with each day, the ladies would be no doubt just like any other prospctive pageant queen around the globe be on her toe as far as gowns for the competition is concerned.

What kind of gowns are the ones considered to be the winning gown? or the working gowns?

Today, we'll take a look at the Miss International pageant.... Here we take a look at the latest gowns used by the winners – the exact dress they used when they crowned – and draw some lessons from it.

Lesson 1 – Red is a potent color. Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago’s shimmering red to deep pink dress actually tickled the celebratory mood in Oriental nations such as Japan. Red and its associated shades are revered in these parts of the world as it represents joy and celebration. 

Lesson 2 – There is beauty in simplicity. The light mint gown of Elizabeth Mosquera was a hit in 2010 because the light color sends a calming character. Buddhism in China and Japan preaches simplicity and meditative character and Elizabeth’s gown is representation of these.

Meet Miss Dominica 2014: Francine Tiffany Baron

Francine Tiffany Baron, 20 years old, from Grand Bay, was crowned Miss Dominica 2014 in an event held at the capital city of Roseau.

This will be Dominica’s third participation in Miss World (keep in mind: Dominica has nothing to do with Dominican Republic!). It debuted in 1978 and returned last year, when Leslassa Adey Armour-Shillingford made the cut in the Talent contest, in Bali.

Pueto Rico Gowns At Miss World (2003-2013)

Someone once said 'Miss World is where the whackiest of all gowns at Big4 can found'. It seems that the most creative gowns can be seen at the World Designer contest which ranges from ethnic prints of Africa to Oriental hand paints on skirts. Here, we take a look at Puerto Rico – a nation that is known for its experimental approach when it comes to gown.

Miss International Hungary 2014 launching on April 26th

Miss International 2008 Alejandra Andreu of Spain will be the guest of honor in the official launching of the Miss International Hungary 2014 where 40 quarterfinalists will be introduced to the media with reigning Miss International Hungary and Miss International 2013 Top 5 finalist Brigitta Otvos.

MINZ 2013 Casey Radley will not crown her successor

Despite being able to put her beloved country back into the pageant map after more than a decade, Casey Radley, the reigning Miss International New Zealand, and Miss International 2013 2nd Runner-up and Miss Friendship recipient will not be able to crown her successor at the Miss World New Zealand 2014 pageant, to be held tomorrow in Auckland.  Ms. Radley who was also crowned Miss Tourism Queen International 2013 Oceania in China last year, officially posted this announcement on her Facebook page.

Laura Longauerová Is Miss Slovakia 2014

Laura Longauerová, 18, from Detva, won the Miss Slovakia 2014 title in an event held in the capital city of Bratislava.

First princess was Lucia Semankova, who will compete in Miss International 2014, while the second princess was Michaela Nguyenová.

Slovakia has been sending some very strong candidates to Miss World, but its first placement in the pageant came last year (Top 20 quarter-finalist). Can Laura repeat it in 2014?

Miss Equatorial Guinea 2014 Is: Agnes Genoveva Cheba Abé

Agnes Genoveva Cheba Abé is the new Miss Equatorial Guinea, which means she will represent her country in Miss World 2014, in November. The capital city of Malabo hosted the pageant.

Maria Dolores Angué placed 2nd, while Sandra Esono Obono finished in the third position.

World Cup nations to inspire Mr Brazil’s Top Model contest

Brazil will host FIFA World Cup 2014, but before that, 40 Mr Brazil delegates will pay tribute to the nations which will play in Brazil and some which got close to do it. Each contestant was assigned with a different country and designers from all over Brazil will create fashion clothing inspired on such nation’s cultural aspects. The candidates will take the stage wearing the colors and culture of 39 different countries during the preliminary Top Model event.

Mr Brazil’s Top Model contest will take place on May 9th, with live webcast to the whole world at www.uol.com.br. It’s going to happen one day before the big final, which is scheduled to happen on May 10th at Hotel do Bosque, in Angra dos Reis.

Mr World Launches Foundation in Colombia

Mr World Francisco Escobar was recently in his hometown of Cali, launching his “Path of Champions” foundation helping under privileged children in the region with the power of sport.

The weekend began with an early morning press conference in the capital of Bogata, with Francisco joined by Miss & Mr World CEO Julia Morley and Miss World Megan Young. During this conference Francisco outlined the aims of his project and the success he has had in his time as Mr World.

Miss US Paradise 2014 Is: Aniska Tonge

Aniska Tonge, 23, was crowned Miss US Paradise World 2014, becoming the official representative of the US Virgin Islands in Miss World 2014.

The winner  is a Psychology Graduate of the University of South Florida, minoring in Women and Gender Studies. She is also the founder and CEO of the 4Her foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the positive progression of young women socially, professionally and personally.

Miss World 2014 is schedule to take place in November, possibly in England or in the Philippines.

Meet Wahiba Arres, 20, Winner of Miss Tunisia 2014

Wahiba Arres, 20, is the winner of Miss Tunisia 2014. The contest took place in Tunis and the winner will compete in Miss World 2014, in November.

Tunisia returned to the Miss World contest in 2013, after 35 years without competing. Its best result in the pageant is a fourth place back in 1957, with Jacqueline Tapia.

Alexandra Caruntu, 17, from Ungheni, was crowned Miss Moldova 2014 and will represent her country in Miss World 2014, in November. The capital city of Chisinau hosted the event.
